FAIRTRADE supporters walked from Stroud to Nailsworth on Saturday.

Members of the Nailsworth and Stroud Fairtrade groups organised the walk to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight - a national campaign to raise awareness of the Fairtrade industry.

Sue Nicholson, of the Nailsworth group, said: "We called into pubs and cafes along the way for some Fairtrade refreshments and to spread the word about the way Fairtrade provides a hand-up for small independent producers in some of the poorest parts of the world."

Walkers met at Stroud farmers' market for an official send-off from Stroud mayor Amanda Moriarty and followed the cycle path to Nailsworth, where they were greeted by mayor Steve Robinson.
