TV PRESENTER professor Mark Horton made his inaugural tour of the Cotswold Canals on Saturday.

Professor Horton, from the shows Time Team and Coast, is vice president of the Cotswold Canals Trust and he visited key restoration projects including Inglesham Lock in Lechlade and the visitor centre at Wallbridge.

Professor Horton also took a trip on the ex-British Waterways working boat, Wookey Hole, from Ebley to the Ryeford double locks.

The trust has recent reinstated the Cotswold Canals from Saul to Inglesham.

Chairman Mike Guests said: "Much has been achieved over the 40 years that the renovation has been in operation and much still remains to be done.

"However the significant progress being made around Stroud is the tipping point and the job will be completed in the foreseeable future."
