STALLHOLDERS who agree with the controversial badger cull will not be allowed to trade at certain events or markets in Stroud if proposals get the go ahead.

Banning pro-badger cull traders from events organised by or on behalf of SDC will be discussed by councillors next month.

Traders who allow a cull on their land or source goods from landowners who have allowed a cull could be banned.

However, organisers of Stroud farmers' market say the motion isn't enforceable at their event because it is not organised by the council and is leased for one day a week.

Labour councillor Paul Denney's motion will be discussed at a full council meeting on April 25 ahead of the trial cull set for west Gloucestershire in June.

SDC was the first district council in the country to state that no badger cull could take place on its land.

Last week it was presented with a Golden Badger Paw by Gloucestershire Against Badger Shooting.
