MONKEYS and quantum physics proved to be the hot topics for young speakers at a school near Stroud.
Pupils at Oakridge Lynch Primary School chose topics ranging from Lego to dolphins and from trains to Enid Blyton for their annual public speaking competition.
Year 9 students from Thomas Keble School in Eastcombe judged the competition selecting as joint winners Vieve Hamilton, eight, for her passionate presentation about monkeys, and Sebastian Newton, 11, for his enthusiasm for quantum physics.
Vieve, from Oakridge Lynch, said: "I have always loved monkeys - there is so much to learn about them. Would you believe that one type of monkey is only as big as your little finger?"
Sebastian, 11, also from Oakridge Lynch, said Professor Brian Cox and the Hadron Collider at Cern in Switzerland inspired his presentation.
