A 31-YEAR-OLD man who showed a 14-year-old girl how to put on a condom using his body for the demonstration was convicted of two child sex charges this afternoon.

James Stinchcombe, of London Road, Tetbury, was found gulty by a jury of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and having sexual activity with a child at Gloucester Crown Court.

He was released on bail and will be sentenced on June 3.

He had denied both charges and refuted the girl's claims but after a four day trial was convicted on both.

Prosecutor Mark Worsley had told the jury that in the summer of 2011 Stinchcombe 'engaged in grossly inappropiate behaviour' towards the girl when he demonstrated putting a condom on himself.

Then in May last year he took advantage of her when she was 15 to touch her breast after massaging her back, alleged Mr Worsley.

The girl had agreed to have her back massaged but felt very uncomfortable when Stinchcombe asked her to take off her top and then lie face down on a bed, said the prosecutor.

Stinchcombe undid her bra strap and massaged her back - and it actually did feel better, he said.

But then after she had dressed he put his hand inside her top and under her bra and touched her breast and nipple.

She reported the incident almost immediately to her mother and when she was later interviewed by police she described the incident when Stinchcombe had asked her if she knew how to use condoms.

He had produced a condom and put it on himself as the girl watched, said Mr Worsley.

When Stinchcombe was arrested he made no comment, added the barrister.

After the guilty verdicts were returned today the judge was told Stinchcombe faces a further charge of possessing three images of 'extreme pornography.'

Judge Tabor said he would not object if that charge was left on the file and not proceeded with in view of the other convictions.
