HARRY Potter star Rupert Grint surprised fans at the Kick Start the Summer Concert on Saturday night at the Sub Rooms, Stroud, writes Jenna Mckillop.

The 24-year-old actor had travelled from his home in Hertfordshire to watch his sister Samantha’s band Ghost of Samantha open the show, held to raise funds for the Door Youth Project.

Wearing a black t-shirt with ‘Hormones’ written across in the style of the famous Ramones logo, skinny jeans and a hoodie, he was accompanied by his mum and dad.

Rupert – whose latest film CBGB tells the story of the iconic CBGB punk nightclub in New York is released later this year - posed for photographs and chatted with fans.

Samantha Grint says her band’s unusual name is based on a ghost who seems to help inspire her while on stage.

Influenced by the likes of Kate Nash and Lily Allen, one of her songs is about Albert Einstein.

Asked about her brother’s fame, she has previously said: “It gets tough for him, but he is getting used to it.”

As Ron Weasley, Rupert appeared in all eight Harry Potter films alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.

The concert organisers are also planning a truck pull event in Stroud in aid of The Door Youth Project. Click here for more.
