FOLLOWING the success of their recent charity gig, Gary Gardner and Door Youth Project apprentice Harry Gardner are just days away from their next exciting event - the Stroud Charity Truck Pull Challenge.

Thirteen teams of 15 will pull an eight tonne lorry along Merrywalks in Stroud on Bank Holiday Monday.

The teams so far include the police, fire service, the Prince Albert, Queen Victoria, British Oak, Cirencester College, Stroud Rugby Club, Cainscross Rugby Club, the Royal Mail, Forest Green Gym, Stratford Park Leisure Centre and Fifth Dimension.

Dairy Crest has also put a team together and is supplying the trucks.

Gary said: "There are still a few places on teams which have not been able to get 15 people so anyone interested in pulling a truck through Stroud please get in touch."

Harry, 17, added: "It will be the biggest event Stroud has seen for a long time and we really would like to see the whole community pull together and support this great event and the charity."

A host of other attractions are being laid on with all proceeds going to the Door.

RemedySounds, who headlined the Kick Start the Summer concert, is returning to perform on a stage which will be constructed opposite the Apollo Cinema as is actor Rupert Grint's sister Samantha, who will perform with her band Ghost of Samantha.

There will also be a kids corner with bouncy castles, lucky dips and face painting plus stalls selling handmade gifts and crafts.

Opening the show is the Truck Pull Schools Dance Competition which is being judged by a mystery celebrity.

The road will be closed for the event which runs from noon to 4.30pm.
