A SECOND man has been arrested as part of an investigation by Gloucestershire Police into the theft of money from collection boxes a Gloucester Cathedral.
Thievesbroke padlocks on three metal boxes attached to candle stands in the church, emptying around £70 in cash on Tuesday, June 5.
Last Wednesday (June 19) another three boxes placed in separate areas in the cathedral were attacked in the same way and around £75 in cash stolen.
Both incidents are believed to be linked.
This morning, Wednesday, June 26, investigating officers arrested a 34-year-old local man on suspicion of theft. He currently remains in police custody.
Yesterday, Tuesday June 25, a 46-year-old man from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of theft as part of the investigation. He has since been bailed to return to the police station on July 25.
