YOUNG apprentice Sam Jones, 17, is setting out on a career in graphic design after gaining a place on an exciting course with Gloucester firm Colour Connection, writes Holly Clarke.
Former Maidenhill School and SGS College student, Sam, beat more than 80 hopefuls for the apprenticeship at the print and design company.
Sam, from Uplands, Stroud, said: "I have been trying to get on a graphic design course for the past three years but have been unsuccessful.
“I have had to make do with just doing bits in my spare time for friends and family until my sister thankfully spotted this opportunity.
“I am absolutely thrilled to have the chance to learn and get on the job training.
“Hopefully this is the beginning of a very successful career in graphic design.”
Sam has already learnt new skills such as designing business cards and other stationary requirements.
