Plans to extend Fieldview care home in Stonehouse have been allowed
PLANS to extend a nursing home in Stonehouse have been allowed on appeal.
Stroud District Council refused an application for planning permission in January for the development of a building on the land adjacent to Fieldview care home in Pearcroft Road.
However, this week a planning inspector overturned the decision after an appeal was made by Mr D Carden.
SDC initially refused permission because it was argued the proposed dwelling would effect the living conditions of neighbours ‘with particular regard to noise and disturbance’.
The concern for noise disturbance arose because of ‘the likely behaviour of the dwellings occupants’ based on experiences from the two adjacent properties which make up Fieldview care home.
This reason was overturned as it was deemed any ‘disturbing behaviour’ from residents living at the property ‘would be occasional and managed in the appropriate manner’.
It was also noted that ‘there have been no formal complaints in relation to noise and disturbance from the existing properties at Fieldview and West End.’
The developer now has three years to start building work on the site.
