MP Neil Carmichael pledges to support dementia sufferers
STROUD MP Neil Carmichael has pledged to take action to support people living with dementia.
Mr Carmichael joined 200 other MPs and representatives from the Alzheimer's Society at an event in Westminster on Tuesday, September 10.
He provided a handwritten statement of action to support people with dementia and their carers and also pledged to raise awareness in Stroud.
He said: "One in three people over the age of 65 will develop dementia and it is a health issue we cannot ignore.
"As a result of learning more about Alzheimer’s I have pledged to tackle the stigma attached to dementia."
The Alzheimer's Society launched the Dementia Friends initiative earlier this year to help people understand what it is like to live with the condition.
