TV presenter Kevin McCloud has opened the doors to one of his own grand designs in Stroud.
The first of 78 homes on the former Cashes Green Hospital site has now been completed and Kevin, presenter of Channel 4’s Grand Designs, was at the development on Saturday to open the new show home.
Neighbours, councillors and future residents took time to view the three-bed semi-detached home and Kevin discussed the importance of biodiversity to the project.
The six-acre site, known as Applewood, includes allotments, wildlife corridors and a central garden square.
It is being developed by Haboakus – a joint venture between Kevin McCloud's company and housing group Greensquare, with involvement from Cashes Green Community Land Trust.
Of the 78 flats and houses, 20 will be for affordable rent and 19 will be for shared ownership.
