Carmichael’s crusaders victorious in bale push competition
MP Neil Carmichael led his team to an inspired victory at Frampton Country Fair when they won the bale push competition.
Dressed in fancy dress as Christian knights, the Stroud MP’s team – ‘Carmichael’s crusaders’ – displayed an almost religious devotion to the cause of negotiating an obstacle course around the 120 metre show ring while pushing a silage bale.
The competition consisted of heats and a final, during which the contestants were tied together to make it a three-legged challenge.
Carmichael’s Crusaders beat three other teams – Nuns On The Run, Anchors Away and Wotton and Dursley Vale Young Farmers – to emerge victorious.
In addition to celebrating his team’s win, Neil also entered his Massey Ferguson 135 in a tractor parade and held a stall at the fair where he met with constituents.
"It is great to meet so many constituents here at Frampton, and to get such encouraging feedback," he said.
"I’m also delighted with my Carmichael’s Crusaders result and hope that we’ll be back next year to defend our title."
