Sign up for the Five Valleys Walk
STEP out and make a difference for meningitis sufferers by taking part in this year’s Five Valleys Walk.
The countdown is on to the Meningitis Trust/Meningitis UK’s sponsored walk on Sunday, September 29.
Walkers can choose to do the full 21-mile route or just part of it as a hike in the hills, a ramble in the country, a walk with the dog or a family day out.
There will be face painting at the Nailsworth checkpoint and a treasure hunt and other games for children between Dudbridge and Nailsworth.
Elsewhere a range of pitstops featuring award-winning local ales, cupcakes, ice-creams and snacks will keep walkers fully refreshed as they make their way around the route.
Five Valleys Walk organiser Caroline McDonnell said: "We’ve tried to introduce an element of fun into this year’s walk so that it’s an enjoyable event for everyone, regardless of whether you’re an experienced walker or a family wanting to enjoy the wonderful Cotswold scenery on a day out.
"The great thing about the Five Valleys Walk is that everyone can take part."
Walkers can start from any of nine checkpoints and for those choosing not to complete the whole route a free Stagecoach bus service will run them back to their start point.
There is a reduced rate for those signing up before the day of £10 per adult (£13 on the day) £5 for under 16s (£8 on the day) or £25 for a family of four (£30 on the day).
Those raising over £100 in sponsorship will be entered into a competition to win a PlayStation3.
All money raised will go to support the charity’s work fighting meningitis on all fronts – funding research into lifesaving vaccines and other preventative measures, raising awareness and helping those recovering with support services and after-care.
