BOBBIES got on their bikes and cycled from Tower Bridge to the Eiffel Tower to raise money for the Cotswold Care Hospice.

PC Liz Leonard, Inspector Karen Ellis and friend Sarah Donnelly raised more than £3,500 after completing the 200-mile journey from London to Paris earlier this month.

Liz, 48, who works at Gloucestershire Constabulary's police operations department, was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago and although she has made a physical recovery, she is still receiving emotional support from the hospice in Minchinhampton.

“It was a really tough challenge but we enjoyed it and it is for such a good cause,” said Karen, who lives in Minchinhampton.

"We had to keep each other motivated as the weather made it very challenging.

"When we finished we were very emotional but there was such a buzz from the sense of achievement."

Liz's partner Mark and Sarah's fiancé Dave Sharpe accompanied the women as their support team during the four day challenge, which started on Sunday, September 15.

Moral support was also provided by Colin, a stuffed dog purchased from the Cotswold Care Hospice Shop in Stonehouse, who travelled with the team in Sarah’s bicycle basket.
