A POLICE officer has been nominated for a bravery award after tackling a man armed with knife and lawn edger
In August 2011 PC Nick French was called to an address in Stroud following reports that a man was trying to stab his wife.
Upon arrival PC found a man kneeled over a woman who was covered in blood.
Seeing that the male had a knife in his right hand and was trying to stab the woman, PC French ran towards the man and reached for his CS spray, shouting at the man to get off the woman.
The male swung towards him with a lawn edger striking him in the face with the heavy tool however PC French was eventually able to restrain him.
Tracy De Young, Gloucestershire Federation chairman said: “I consider it a real honour to be a colleague of PC French and was happy to nominate him for the award.”
