ACTING enthusiast Anne Martin is warming up her vocal cords to sing in the fight against cancer.
Anne, 44, who lives in The Old Common, Bussage, has organised her own sponsored sing at the bandstand in Stratford Park on Saturday, October 19 to tie in with the national Stand Up To Cancer event.
The event, which was launched last year by Channel 4 and Cancer Research UK, asks fundraisers to spend a day standing up to raise money for cancer research.
“My mum Margaret was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer last year and after going through all the treatment she has recently discovered that the cancer has spread to her lungs,” said Anne, who has two sons, Kenny Walker, 18 and Devon Martin, 10.
“I am a member of the Cotswold Play House and I have done a bit of busking in the past so I thought a sponsored sing would be perfect.
“My fundraising target was £100 but I have already managed to raise £90 so now I am just trying to collect as much money as possible.”
Anne will be singing and standing between 11am and 3pm on Saturday, October 19. Go and visit her on the day or donate online at http://www.justgiving.com/Anne-Martin2013.
