POPULAR Nailsworth eatery mark@street has been named in the prestigious Michelin Good Food Guide.

The restaurant, in Market Street, is now ranked among the top 1,500 establishments in the country.

Chef Mark Payne said: “I am extremely proud to have been listed in the guide.

“It is a testament to the hard work that my staff have put in along with myself to create what we have here today.

“The award also belongs to all of my loyal customers, who regularly support me and have taken the time to sing the praises of mark@street.”

The Good Food Guide is one of the leading independent restaurant guides in the country.

It is based on customer recommendations, which are then followed up by anonymous inspectors, who give each establishment a score out of ten for the publication.

Mark@street opened in July 2011 and offers casual lunchtime dining and a fine dining experience in the evening.

Mark has worked as a chef at many top restaurants, including Claridges, in London, before moving to Gloucestershire five years ago as head chef of Cowley Manor.

The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2014 is available now at £15.99.
