Father to run Stroud Half Marathon for children's hospital

A FATHER from Leonard Stanley will run the Stroud Half Marathon this weekend to raise money for Bristol Children’s Hospital after surgeons there saved the life of his newly born child.
John Price’s five-month-old son Rio was born with Hirschsprungs Disease, a rare, life-threatening, bowel condition, which has already forced him to undergo several major procedures.
Mr Price, 36, will run the half marathon in aid of the Wallace and Grommit Appeal – a charity set-up specifically to raise funds for Bristol Children’s Hospital – and the Cots for Tots Appeal, which helps to raise money for St Michael’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where Rio received emergency treatment 24 hours after he was born.
Rio’s mother Rachel, who has three other children, Rhiannon, 10, Reuben, six, and Rosa Lilly, three, said: “All we know is we are very blessed to still have Rio in our lives and take each day as it comes with a smile on our face for our family’s sake.”
Rachel, also 36, has set-up a JustGiving page online so anyone can sponsor her husband’s run. To donate go to: www.justgiving.com/Rachel-Price7
