POLICE officers have been discussing the perils of 'sexting' with schoolchildren in Stroud.
The Stroud Neighbourhood Policing Team is trialling a scheme educating Year 8 pupils about the implications of sending indecent images.
Chief Inspector Andy Poole said: "Sexting is an emerging problem for teenagers.
"Many do not realise how possession of indecent images of their girlfriends or boyfriends, who in the eyes of the law are children, can constitute serious offences.
"These images are then passed around and the effect on their lives, potentially for years to come, is often not considered."
