A HORSE has been rescued in a four-hour operation after becoming stuck in mud and water in a culvert in Woodford, near Berkeley.
At around 9.45am on Sunday, December 1, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a distressed owner of the horse when it become stuck in wet ground near Damery Lane.
One pumping appliance from Dursley, one pumping appliance from Gloucester North along with the specialist large animal rescue unit attended with a total crew of 11 firefigthers.
The crews worked together using the animal rescue equipment and with assistance from a local vet managed to free the horse and safely get it onto dry ground.
