CHRISTMAS was celebrated early as hundreds enjoyed the Nailsworth Noel on Friday evening.

An abundance of food and craft stalls, fairground rides and live music were among the highlights of the event, which was organised by the Nailsworth Chamber of Trade.

Dozens of children took part in a procession led by Father Christmas which set off from Station Road to the hub of the evening’s entertainment in Old Market.

Visitors were also able to make the most of many of the town’s shops staying open late.

Verity Symcox, chairman of Nailsworth Chamber of Trade, said: “After a two year gap Nailsworth Noel was finally resurrected.

"The evening was a huge success with many of the businesses staying open late to celebrate with their customers.

"A lot of changes have happened to Nailsworth over the last few years and the return of the Noel event has allowed new businesses to show case their talents on a hugely popular and long standing event."
