Thieves pose as Metropolitan police officers

GLOUCESTERSHIRE Constabulary is reminding the public to be on their guard against thieves posing as police officers.
The warning comes after a number of incidents where victims received telephone calls from men claiming to be detectives from the Metropolitan Police or bankers.
These men told the victims that their cards had been fraudulently used and that a courier would be visiting their homes to pick them up.
Senior harm reduction advisor, Dave McFarlane, warns residents that under no circumstances would the police or the banks send someone to your home to collect your credit cards.
“If you are a victim of this type of crime then it’s worthwhile remembering that if you are visited by someone you know or trust do not open the door,” said Mr McFarlane.
“Always check the person’s credentials by calling the organisation, that includes the police.
“Remember if in doubt, keep them out.”
