SATISFACTION with Stroud District Council and the public services it provides has risen among residents of the Five Valleys.

According to the results of the local authority’s annual budget surveys, 71 per cent of people are satisfied with SDC’s performance – a four per cent rise on last year.

The poll also shows that 92 per cent of those recently surveyed are satisfied with the Five Valleys as a place to live.

Meanwhile, dissatisfaction with the district council remains at an all time historical low of eight per cent.

The findings of the surveys, which are undertaken every year to canvass residents’ opinions about the council and local area, have been welcomed by SDC’s Labour leader Geoff Wheeler.

Cllr Wheeler said: “Local authorities are being squeezed and have a tough couple of years ahead of them but we will continue to strive to provide excellent services and value for money.

“Against this backdrop, with over 70 per cent of residents in the survey expressing that they are satisfied with our performance, it is encouraging that we continue to perform well in their eyes.”
