LITTLE Maisie Sullivan received a very special Christmas treat when she was invited to a star-studded party at Downing Street.
Seven-year-old Maisie, a pupil at Woodchester Primary School, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour and has been undergoing radiotherapy at Bristol Royal Infirmary.
She was invited along to 11 Downing Street in London to meet celebrity guests by the Starlight Children’s Foundation, a national charity that grants wishes for seriously and terminally ill children and provides entertainment in hospitals and hospices across the UK.
Maisie, who lives in Newmarket, Nailsworth, with mum Caroline and younger brother Freddie, five, met a host of famous faces including Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, Chelsea and England football star
Frank Lampard and Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint at the party in December, which was hosted by the chancellor of the exchequer, George Osborne.
The state rooms were transformed into a festive wonderland complete with a Santa’s grotto for the children and their families.
Mum Caroline said: “It was very surreal. She had a wonderful time.
“Geri Halliwell was lovely and spent time with her asking lots of questions.
“It was a nice treat after everything that she has been through.”
Mr Osborne said: “It is wonderful to be able to bring some much-needed Christmas cheer to these very poorly children and their families.”
