SHE is used to seeing her work hung on a wall, but last month artist Wendy Thompson saw it projected onto the side of a huge building.

Wendy and a small group of local entrepreneurs set up Promoting in Art to explore ways of promoting business through the arts and supporting art through business.

They launched their first project, Promoting Cheltenham in Art, in December which saw paintings of Cheltenham by Wendy and adverts for local businesses digitally projected onto Eagle Tower – one of Cheltenham’s highest profile buildings.

Wendy, who lives in Eastington, said: “The project is inspiring, attracting new markets to art, which is delivered in a different way through digital technology.

“There is a hidden story behind each piece of art, which enables us to portray the local heritage and provenance of Gloucestershire.”

The project saw paintings of iconic Cheltenham places including Pittville Pump Rooms, The Queen’s Hotel and Cheltenham Races projected onto the tower.

Adverts for local firms were also projected with money raised for Gloucestershire causes such as Cotswold Care Hospice.
