THOMAS Keble School has marked its place as a serious contender in competitive sport after it received a glowing Ofsted report.

The PE department at the school in Eastcombe was visited by inspector Judith Rundle last month who carried out a survey inspection on competitive sport

Mrs Rundle flagged up four specific areas of strength including the ‘breadth of competitive sporting opportunity on offer’, the ‘high profile of PE in raising achievement across the school’, the ‘excellent role models provided by the school’s sports captains’ and the ‘inclusive nature of the department’.

A letter from the inspector to the school stated that Thomas Keble provides an ‘exceptional level of competitive school sport’.

Glenn Price, head of PE at Thomas Keble, was delighted with the feedback.

“I think this confirms the excellent standards our pupils and staff are achieving on a daily basis here at Thomas Keble,” he said.

“The huge extended sports provision we have at lunchtimes and after school illustrates how seriously our school takes sport.

“We are proud to receive such praise and our aim is to keep getting better and better by giving our pupils the best possible opportunity to reach their full potential.”
