DEVELOPERS behind a controversial plan to build a £15million supermarket in Ryeford have been forced to amend their proposal and remove the petrol station.
The removal of the petrol station from the proposal, which includes a 55,000 square foot store at a brownfield site near the Ryeford Junction on the Ebley Bypass, was announced at a Stonehouse Town Council meeting on Monday.
According to a Stroud District Council spokesman the plans were changed by the developer Property Alliance Group in response to concerns from the environment agency and council planning officers about building a petrol station on an area that is considered a flood risk.
During a public consultation on the plans in June last year concerns were raised about the potential risk of flooding on the site however positive comments were also made about what a petrol station would mean for fuel price competition.
The amended version of the proposal is due to be discussed by SDC’s planning committee in April.
