A TOWN council meeting was told that the Standish Hospital had been 'sold'.
At a meeting of Stonehouse Town Council on Monday night, councillor David Drew announced that a ‘reliable source’ had told him the site in Horsemarling Lane had been 'sold'.
He added that the planning policy framework states that the site must be used as a care facility for the community.
However, NHS Property Services rebuffed Cllr Drew's claim.
A spokesman said: “Standish Hospital has not been sold and is still owned by NHS Property Services. We are continuing discussions with a range of partner organisations about the most appropriate and best future use of the site.”
