COMPETITIVE villagers are challenging each other over their culinary skills in Cranham.

Teams from the three areas of the village are rising to the challenge of catering for customers at The Black Horse pub in a Come Dine With Me style competition.

The first team hosted an 'Allo 'Allo! themed evening on Monday, February 3.

Pub owner Carolyn Cardy, who has organised the competition with her husband Chris, said: "Cranham is split into three areas and people get quite competitive at village events.

"So we decided to put that friendly competitive spirit to the test with a Come Dine With Me competition.

"The teams will take turns cooking, serving and washing up on the first Monday of the month."

The teams will be rated on their food and service by independent judge Richard Durston, who has spent many years in the catering business.

Customers will also have the chance to fill in a questionnaire to comment on their experience.

Each team can spend roughly £9 per head with any proceeds donated to charity.
