FLORISTS dressed as French maids will be flipping pancakes to raise money for Stroud food bank.

Staff at Faux Flower Design in Inchbrook, Stroud, will once again be donning fancy dress and their running shoes to enter a pancake race to raise funds and donations for Stroud Food Bank.

The race, which is organised by Malvern Rotary Club takes place on Tuesday, February 18 and the team will be running dressed as French maids, which were donated by Cotswold Costumes in Nailsworth.

Eva Thomas, designer florist at the company, said: “ We had great fun last year although encountered strong competition in our heat and didn’t quite make the final, this year we are hoping to change that.”

“The local community are always digging deep into their pockets to support so many charities, so we thought for a change we would ask people to dig into their cupboards”

Will Mansell, from Stroud District Foodbank, said: “We are very busy at the moment and need all the food we can get so it is great to have a local group take such a strong interest in helping us.”

Donations of non perishable food items or sponsorship can be dropped off at the Faux Flower Design Studio at in Gydynap Lane, Stroud.

At present Foodbank are desperately short on supplies of sugar, coffee, fruit juice and tinned puddings.
