POTATO Day was a spud-tacular success at Stroud’s Merrywalks Shopping Centre on Saturday.
Organised by Down to Earth and Transition Stroud, the event saw more than half a tonne of seed potatoes available to buy to encourage householders to grow their own.
The team distributed fact sheets and offered advice.
There were also more than 20 different varieties of spuds including organic, supplied by Dundry nurseries.
Organiser Philip Booth said: “Stroud Potato Day is a celebration of the potato – we hope folk who have never grown vegetables at all will give a spud a go.”
