INSPIRED by a family’s campaign to raise money for heart disease, pupils from Chalford Hill Primary School ‘ramped up the red’ on Friday.

One pupil, Charlie Robbins, five, was born with critical aortic stenosis, a heart condition which prevented a steady flow of oxygenated blood from being pumped around his body.

He spent the first 12 weeks of life in hospital and by the age of one had already undergone three open heart surgeries.

To raise money for the British Heart Foundation, Charlie’s mum Claire asked the school to organise a ‘dress in red’ day on Friday for Ramp Up The Red, which encourages people across the country to wear red to raise money for heart disease.

Richmond Village in Painswick also took part with staff and residents donating £1 to wear red and enter a raffle draw. They raised more than £120.
