STROUD District Council has helped supply thousands of sandbags to householders in parts of the county affected by flooding.

A spokesman for SDC said: “So far the Stroud district has not fared as badly as other areas of Gloucestershire, however sandbags are readily available and have been collected by residents who need them.

“Also in the last week water resources engineers and neighbourhood wardens have been out monitoring watercourses and advising and helping residents in vulnerable areas.

“As always SDC works with its partner agencies and neighbouring councils and as part of this approach the council has supplied Tewkesbury with 2,000 sandbags as they have areas at greater risk.

“In many areas which may be prone to flooding residents and parish councils tend to be well prepared and organised to deal with local problems however the council is always on hand to help.”
