TALENTED Hattie Briggs performed live to thousands of listeners during last night’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Hattie, 20, who lives in Ebley, was one of four acts nominated in the Young Folk Award category, which is for 16 to 21 year olds.

All four performed one song each during an interval session hosted by Simon Mayo in a backstage studio at the Royal Albert Hall, where the awards were held.

Hattie, the only solo artist to be nominated, performed first, playing her new single Pull Me Down which the presenters likened to Joni Mitchell and Carole King.

Also nominated were Gentleman of Few, Granny’s Attic and the Mischa Macpherson Trio, who were named the winners.

Hattie released her debut EP My Shepherd’s Hut in November last year.

Pull Me Down is available from the iTunes store from Monday.
