THE people of Eastington will have the opportunity to have their say on what they want for the parish for the next 20 years at an event today.

It is between 3pm and 7pm at Eastington Community Centre at the Owen Harris Memorial Ground.

Eastington Parish Council became one of the first parish councils in the Stroud district to receive designation for their Neighbourhood Development Plan. The opportunity to create these plans were given under the powers of the Localism Act 2011 which gives communities the right to have their say with regard to planning, housing, transport, employment, leisure and the environment for their areas.

The parish council set up a steering group with interested parishioners to develop their own Neighbourhood Plan. This will be the first consultation event for the whole of the parish to give their ideas, thoughts and views on what they would like to see in the place they live, work and play.

The consultation event will be a fun event to include activities for children, a raffle with prizes from local businesses, quizzes and refreshments as well as displays of the parish and opportunities to discuss ideas. All who live and work in Eastington are welcome.
