THE saga of Tricorn House, Stroud’s most infamous eyesore, continues.

Planning permission was granted in 2010 to Cheltenham-based Summerfield Medical who wanted to convert the former DHSS offices, built in the 1970s at the Cainscross roundabout, into a care home.

This permission has now lapsed, however, opening the door for other developers to express an interest.

Phil Skill, Head of Planning for Stroud District Council, said: “Summerfield Medical had permission for a high-dependency care home but that lapsed earlier this month so it is no longer valid.

“That presents an opportunity for any developers or entrepreneurs to come forward, and if they are prepared to bankroll our compulsory purchase process, then the council is interested in talking to them.”
