THE biggest ever Skillsfest event in the county is being held on Friday and Saturday (March 7 and 8) in a bid to combat youth unemployment.
Taking place during National Apprenticeship Week, SGS College is joining more than 50 employers and training providers for the two-day event at GlosCol’s Docks Campus.
Skillsfest is aimed at students and young adults from 14 to 25, giving them the chance to try various activities.
These include computer modelling, digital photography, bricklaying and health and beauty therapy alongside demonstrations from employers such as RAF, aircraft designers Messier-Dowty, graphic media consultants Isaac Partnerships, GCHQ and many more.
The event also offers information sharing, hands-on activities, skills competitions, apprenticeships, job offers and professional careers advice.
Friday’s event (9.30am to 3.30pm) is mainly for scheduled school visits, while all young people aged 14 to 25 and their parents are welcome on Saturday from 9.30am to 1.30pm. See www.glosskillsfest.co.uk
