THE LANDSLIP damaged road near Horsley in Stroud has re-opened today, Monday, March 10.

Gloucestershire County Council has installed temporary traffic lights road on the B4058 and the Downend turn between Nailsworth and Horsley.

Heavy rain at the start of the year caused the landslip which led to a temporary road closure.
Highways crews relieved pressure on the landslip and sandbags were placed on the road to divert water away from the slip area, helping to reduce the risk of further movement and protecting the properties below.

Now, as a precaution, a 7.5 tonne weight restriction has been put in place, although buses will still be allowed to use the route, and a 30mph speed limit will apply.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: "We would like to thank road users and residents for their cooperation during this time.

"The recent rainfall and flooding has been a challenge for us all and I am proud of the way our communities, highways teams and partners have responded.”
