PUPILS at Wycliffe Prep School shared the joy of reading worldwide when they donated second-hand books to schools in Africa.

As part of World Book Day celebrations at the Stonehouse school on Friday students and staff donated some of their much-loved books and dressed up as their favourite characters.

“We decided it would be great to help less fortunate children enjoy a range of books that we have enjoyed ourselves,” said head of English Emma Muszasty.

Students also donated money to the school’s chosen charity Allsorts which supports children with any disability or additional need and their families.

An assembly was also held for pupils in Years three to eight and prizes were awarded for the best costumes some of which included Cruella De-Vil and her pack of Dalmatians and the Cat in the Hat.
