A MAN is to stand trial in May after pleading not guilty to criminal charges brought by Ecotricity boss and Forest Green Rovers chairman Dale Vince.

Lawyers have charged Richard Cole of Tower Road South, Bristol with conspiracy to burgle Mr Vince’s home in Rodborough and receiving stolen goods.

One charge alleges that Cole conspired with two youths between February 20 and March 31 last year to burgle Mr Vince’s home at Moor Court.

The second charge alleges that between the same dates, Cole dishonestly received two black, grey and white Arai motorsport crash helmets owned by Mr Vince.

Cole pleaded not guilty to both charges when he appeared at Gloucester Crown Court on Friday.

He was released on bail by judge Jamie Tabor QC and faces a trial on May 27. Mr Vince took the unusual step of bringing a private prosecution after the Crown Prosecution Service decided there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
