FOREST Green Rovers striker Danny Wright proved to be a class act when he presented football fan Louis Glover with a signed match ball for his school.

Avening Primary School pupil Louis was presented with the ball signed by Danny and his teammates during an assembly yesterday, Thursday.

Louis, who is in Year 5, won the match ball from FGR’s recent game against Southport where Danny was named man of the match, thanks to his involvement in the FGR Ambassador Scheme.

The scheme was set up to form better links between the football club and schools in the local community.

A pupil from each of the schools involved in the programme is nominated to work as an ambassador for the Nailsworth based football club, which includes promoting the team at their school and attending the games.

Coventry Building Society, the team’s sponsors, put the names of each Ambassador Scheme school into a prize draw to win the ball and this time Avening Primary School was successful.

Jackie Harris, manager of the Coventry Building Society branch in Nailsworth, said: "Forest Green Rovers is a very special football club that works at the heart of its local community and we are very proud to work with them to support the Ambassador Scheme.”
