A RESTAURANT owner from Nailsworth is cooking up a fundraising campaign as he aims to raise money for charity.

Paddy Clatworthy, who owns the Olive Tree Restaurant, is hoping to raise over £10,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

“My mum passed away two years ago, with the last six weeks of her life being spent in the hands of the caring staff from Marie Curie," said Paddy.

"My brother Jay and I, with family friend Aron Adams, wanted to show how grateful we were for the exceptional care the charity showed our mum, and decided to do some fund-raising .”

The brothers have organised several live music events in Cornwall, where Jay lives, and Paddy has arranged a charity ball for 120 friends and family on Saturday, June 14, at Egypt Mill in Nailsworth.

Paddy said: “We're sure the evening will be a roaring success with live music, a raffle and an auction of promises which include Quarter Final tickets for Wimbledon, and a week in a luxury apartment in the South of France.”

Together with Adam, Paddy and Jay are also undertaking a number of sporting challenges.

“I’ve already run the Bath Half Marathon, and have signed up for the Brighton Marathon on April 6, but our main team challenge is to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats, starting on August 28, hoping to cover the 1,000 miles in 10 days,” added Paddy.
