A NEW art gallery in Nailsworth celebrated its official launch on Saturday with a champagne and sausages lunch event.

Blue Circle Art Gallery, which opened in February, specialises in the work of 20th-century predominantly British artists including Edward Piper, Patrick Hughes, Allen Jones RA, Bryan Organ, William Scott RA and artist of the month Doris Brabham Hatt.

The gallery is open from Wednesday to Saturday and offers a range of paintings, lithographs, sculptures, drawings and mixed media.

The gallery owners are Michael Wright, who has worked in the fine art business for 25 years, and Larry Hurst, a chartered accountant and passionate art collector.

Michael said: "We're delighted to open the gallery and are excited about being in Nailsworth which, as well as being one of the top 101 best places to live in Britain, is the most vibrant small town in this part of the Cotswolds.

"We hope that the gallery will inspire people to start collecting, whether original works or signed artists’ prints, and to continue the artistic tradition of the area."
