Man, 18, charged with attempted murder after girl, 16, found with life threatening injuries

UPDATE Saturday, April 5: Assault victim Kayleigh Palmer has died in hospital

POLICE have charged a man in connection with a serious assault in Cheltenham.

Emergency services were called to a house in Humber Road in the town just after midday on Wednesday. A short while later a 16-year-old girl was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Aston Robinson, 18 and from Cheltenham, has been charged with attempted murder and will appear before magistrates in Cheltenham on today, Friday.

As is standard practice where there has been previous contact between police and the victim, Gloucestershire Police has referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
