A VAN driver had a lucky escape after his vehicle careered off the A46 Bath Road in Stroud and crashed down a steep bank.

The green Ford Transit van stopped just yards from Stroud Auction Rooms on Bath Road Trading Estate at around 2pm this afternoon, Monday.

A lorry bearing 'flamable liquid' warnings was also involved in the collision at the junction of Dudbridge Road and Bath Road.

Police are directing traffic and drivers are being warned to expect delays.
