WORK has started on a £50,000 scheme to improve Nailsworth bus station.
The improvements, which have been agreed between Stroud District Council, Nailsworth Town Council and Gloucestershire County Council, will take place over the next six weeks.
Brian McGough, SDC’s building programmes manager, said: “We will increase safety by improving access for buses which currently have to reverse out of the station.
“At the same time, pedestrian safety will also be improved as routes across the entrance and exit to the station are narrowed.
“The existing bus shelter will be replaced with a new one in a better location.”
Bus services will not be affected while the work is taking place although temporary bus stops will be put in place next to the station.
