A TASTE of Cornwall came to Stroud this weekend.

Rodda Thomas, owner of the Crown and Sceptre in Horns Road, held a Cornish ale, cider and pasty festival over the Easter weekend.

"We serve Cornish pasties at the pub every Saturday but I thought we could celebrate some of the less known breweries in the county as well," said Rodda, who is originally from Cornish.

Blue Anchor and Penpont brewery were some of the first ales to sell out and according to Rodda all the pasties and ales were gone by Monday lunchtime.

To entertain his customers during the festival Rodda also organised a music showcase for local talent.

"Stroud Unplugged was a great opportunity for musicians to show what they can do acoustically on a small stage," added Rodda.

Although there is no fixed plan it is hoped the pub can host a similar event on a yearly basis.
