A PUPIL at Gastrells Community Primary School has won the title of Stroud Primary Mock Trials Court Artist.
Year 6 pupil Mea Edmond saw off fierce competition to win the prize in this year’s competition. Her drawing of the court scene, with 3D perspective and attention to detail, took the eye of the contest judge and prize sponsor, Stroud MP Neil Carmichael, who visited the school to present Mea with her award of a paint, crayons and pastels set.
Speaking to Mea and her classmates, Mr Carmichael said: “I would like to congratulate Mea for winning this prize. The competition is a great to embed a sense of the rule of law in young people, and I hope that all those pupils who took part appreciate the importance of our laws.”
The Primary School Mock Trials gave local schools the opportunity to see a court environment, in both defence and prosecution, and provided pupils with a taste of the legal profession at an early age.
