NAILSWORTH Town Council discussed the growing demand for foodbanks at a meeting last night, Tuesday.
The debate was triggered by a report from Christ Church in Newmarket at last month’s town council meeting that said the increasing demand has led to the church setting up its own foodbank cupboard.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, town councillor Norman Kay said he was “appalled” to learn that Christ Church was setting up a stock for foodbank provision.
Nationally, churches are leading the way to support the growing numbers of people and families nationally calling on foodbank support.
